What to Expect When You're Expecting Gets a Face Lift

The pregnancy bible that many of us once consulted, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, has finally undergone a face lift. The familiar, dowdy-looking mama that once graced the cover wearing a pilly sweater and sitting in grandma’s rocking chair has moved out of the picture and has been replaced by a standing hip mama, sporting jeans and a tight fitting top spotlighting her bump. I don’t know about you, but when I first became pregnant 4 years ago, I immediately picked up What to Expect and starting reading up on what I should be feeling at every stage of my pregnancy, searching for answers as to why I developed a super-hero’s sense of smell or to justify my cravings for McDonald’s fries. I always thought that the sketch on the cover of the mom-to-be with her blank stare looked plain bored with life. I’m so glad they replaced her.

In addition to the changes on the cover, the authors supposedly updated the contents, and hopefully, made things a bit more sensitive to the target audience. (Does a pregnant woman really need to read about all the scary stuff while she ponders her swollen ankles or loss of balance. I think not). Anyway, if anyone is reading the newest version, let me know what you think. Post your comments here!

Thanks for reading the blog! It's always good to hear someone is reading/listening to my jargon from my blog/soapbox.
